Location: Up-scale neighborhood on Calle Chorro: 2 blocks (5-minute walk) from Juarez Park, 6 blocks (12-minute walk) south-east of central Jardin.

Enter Casa Book and your world is comfortably transformed… From the entry hall (with its handy guest half-bath), you go up a few stairs by a rugged stone wall, and come out in the family room with a rock fireplace, welcoming furniture and a country chandelier… Note: two of the couches make into beds for over-flow guests.

The dining room, with chandelier and rustic table and chairs (seating 6 to 8 guests), separates the family room from the slightly-more formal living room. A rustic rock wall contains the large fireplace with couches on either side. While colorful paintings, native artwork and rugs enliven the scene, the beamed ceiling sports directional lights and a ceiling fan. A window-wall behind one couch floods the room with light, and a patio view delights the eye with outside dining table, a fountain, myriads of flowering plants and staircase walls covered with vines.

The ample and well-stocked kitchen also shares the patio view… A rustic blue-shaded chandelier comes down from the beamed ceiling, and the wall behind the stove has a hand-made tile mural supporting the hood. Custom cabinets with glass-fronted doors display dishes and glasses on the upper level, while a broad white tile expanse with blue and white tile back-splashes decorates the counters, and custom drawers and cabinets for cutlery and pots and pans inhabit the lower level. Every large and small appliance (even a seldom-seen sight in San Miguel: an automatic dishwasher) is included…

The middle floor with its two-story garden wall and broad terraces features three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The first is a king-sized bedroom with en suite bathroom, fireplace, a desk and a private, arch-covered terrace and vine-covered patio. Back behind the terrace is a laundry room, with washer/drier and ironing board, as well as a bathroom for the maid. From the other covered terrace with a comfortable couch on this floor, you can enter two separate queen-sized guest bedrooms which share a bathroom… The queen-bedrooms, one decorated in blue and the other in yellow, have closets with paneled doors and beamed ceilings…

The third floor is ruled by a spacious master bedroom with king bed and a fireplace, desk and comfortable chairs. On one side of the bedroom are closets and a dressing-room leading to a huge, sumptuous en suite bathroom with tub, separate shower, a fireplace and a chaise lounge, as well as seemingly-endless counter top with mirror above and covered shelves and drawers beneath. On either side of the fireplace, gracious French doors lead to an outside covered terrace with another fireplace, couches, table/chairs and kitchen with sink and barbecue… AND A FABULOUS VIEW out over the city roof-tops and church domes and spires to the western horizon… a perfect sunset-ending to a fabulous house!!
