Welcome to Casa que Cante, a house and garden that's an oasis of charm and light, right in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. Located near the famed art and language school, Instituto Allende, Casa Que Cante is on a quiet lane called Bayoneta, just a few steps away from the shops, restaurants, art galleries and bustle of the Ancha de San Antonio. It’s an easy, flat walk of about 8 minutes to the historic center of town and El Jardin.

The walled entry garden has an outdoor sala, furnished with comfortable chairs, sofas and tables and decorated with interesting native folk art. Just the spot for San Miguel's mild weather entertaining.

French doors off the entry garden open into the charming living room with its overstuffed chairs and sofa flanking the fireplace. At one end of the room is the dining area with seating up to 6 or 8. More glass doors open up to a small interior courtyard patio filled with flowering plants with table and chairs set up for a luncheon - or an afternoon of cards.

The handsome master bedroom and bath is off the living room, and also opens onto the interior patio. The bedroom has plenty of closet and storage space.

The kitchen is colorfully tiled with handmade Mexican tiles. Along one wall are stove, frig, counters and open shelves for dishes. The bar/counter/sink faces the cooking wall - and there are chairs drawn up on the opposite side of the bar for morning coffee. The kitchen has a view of the entry garden and french doors open onto it.

The staff includes a housekeeper Mari Cruz and the gardener / handyman, Romero. Arrangements can be made for him to take you on short trips and shopping expeditions.

Casa que Cante is the kind of relaxed , comfortable holiday house you'll want to come back to, time and again.

Note: "Angel", a long haired white cat, is in residence at this property. Angel is cared for by the staff and is considered the "guard cat". Persons with allergies to cats should not apply for this rental.

** If rented in conjunction with Casita de las Flores (upper unit on same property, with 1 bedroom plus sleeping porch) the total property accommodates up to 5 persons. Rental of both units together (April to September only) is $1,500/month and $600 week.
