A lavender-scented entry garden with shaded seating space welcomes you to this lovely one-bedroom, 1.5 bath home on a quiet residential street in colonia Guadiana , just two blocks from the Ancha de San Antonio . Architect-designed, Casa Estrellita is Mexican contemporary in feel, with the living room, study and bedroom facing the interior courtyard garden filled with its colorful array of flowering plants, shrubs and vines. Covered seating for reading and relaxing and an el fresco dining area make this secluded interior patio a year round favorite for Estrellita’s guests.

The open floor plan of the living room or “great room” of Casa Estrellita has gracious high ceilings, a canterra firelace and comfortable cushioned furniture with dramatic wall hangings and other native folkart. A series of handcrafted star-shaped light fixtures divide the dining area from the living room, giving off a soft glow of warm twinkling light. These hanging stars actually give the house its name, (star meaning estrella in Spanish).

Beyond the dining area is the gleaming , efficient kitchen modern kitchen with everything you need for ease of meal preparation. There is a purified water system throughout the house, so no need for bottled water. A hallway off the kitchen leads to the pantry and laundry room (complete with washer/dryer) and from there is the entry to the enclosed garage.

A guest powder room is to the left of the entry hall. The cozy study/tv room, painted in vibrant deep indio reds, is one level up from the living room, reached by a wide shallow step. Internet access and satellite television are in the study – just next door is the master bedroom with king sized bed, fireplace and views of the courtyard garden. Beyond is the walk- in dressing room with built in drawers and closet space galore. Next comes the extra large bath which is separated into compartments – first, a beautiful Mexican tiled vanity, then the tub and shower alcove and finally, a toilet in its own separate enclosure.

This charming home is an easy flat walk to the Ancha de San Antonio, a main thorofare containing the well-known Instituto Allende, famed art and language school, and a host of cafes, art galleries, fine restaurants and shops, plus an all night pharmacy, grocery store and a number of casual, informal (and delicious) eateries! A further few minutes walk of about 4 blocks takes you to el Jardin and La Parroquia, in the central historic district of town.
