This charming colonial is right in the heart of town, San Miguel’s 4-star location for those who want to be a short stroll away from El Jardin, and the restaurants, shops, cafes and art galleries in el centro! It was built, Mexican style, in the 1800s around a central courtyard patio and updated with modern conveniences just a few years ago. The main living area of the house has an entry way gallery (the owners are artists), recessed shelves and lighting and a high-ceilinged living room with comfortable seating facing the fireplace. Overlooking the living room is a loft which serves as an artist’s studio plus extra guest bedroom. Off the living room to the left is a comfortable, romantic dining room with fireplace. The kitchen, with modern stove, microwave, toaster oven, and complete supply of dishes and utensils is adjacent to the dining room. There’s a powder room on the patio, off the kitchen.

Across the charming courtyard patio with its tinkling fountain is a two-story stone cottage with sitting room/bedroom and baths ensuite. The first floor suite (Suite A) has a comfortable sitting room with fireplace, bookshelves, television and reading area. A tiled bath and shower with separate commode and a walk-in closet separate the sitting room from the king-sized bedroom. The view from the bedroom takes in the sweeping bougainvillea vines and morning glory-covered trellis eating area of the patio. There’s a fireplace in the bedroom as well as ample closet space. Exit the bedroom through the French doors and you’re back on the patio. To your left is the stairway leading to the second floor, Suite B, with duplicate sitting room with fireplace, tv, bath and a twin-bedded guest room.

Up a short flight of steps from Suite B is the roofdeck with dramatic closeup view of the spires of the Parroquia (historic central church), flower-covered rooftops and mountains in the distance. The roofdeck has plenty of sunning and lounging space for sunset watching and entertaining. The front part of the roofdeck is hidden behind a low vine covered wall and contains the utility area with automatic washing machine and storage and drying area.

Juana and Juan are your caretakers at Casa del Corazon. Juana takes care of the household, including laundering the linens, cleaning and watering while her husband Juan is on call for any needed extra household or garden chores.

Casa Corazon is available for rental throughout the year.
