Less than a block away from BOTH the Parque Juarez and the Instituto de Allende, Casa Julie is in the ideal location for one or two couples to enjoy a dream vacation… A wonderful, split-level home in an ideal location in a small, safe gated community in a great location!

On the ground floor is the kitchen, dining room with seating for six, a guest bath, and utility room with washer/dryer… Up about 3 steps is a wonderful sunny living room with cozy couch and chairs and fireplace. Out beyond the living room is a garden table and chairs for al fresco dining.. Upstairs is a lilac-covered king-sized bed (or two individual beds, if you’d rather) in the guest bedroom, featuring lilac-colored flowers on the balcony. Then, down the hall are a full bathroom with tub/shower and a queen-sized master bedroom. Underneath the window overlooking the back patio, there is an Internet connection for your laptop, as well as a printer. Up a few more stairs is a covered terrace with table and chairs. And to top it all off, a roof terrace with lounge chairs to admire the gorgeous view out over the Parroquia and roof-tops of historic San Miguel.

From this wonderful location, you can go for an early morning jog under the trees in the park a half-block away, followed by preparing your own breakfast in the complete kitchen and eating it in the patio amidst the flowers and sunshine. Then, you can attend morning Spanish, art or crafts classes in the Instituto (a block and a half away), followed by an inexpensive lunch--65 pesos (under US $5) for two freshly-grilled fish tacos, cold slaw, chilled beer, all for less than a burger and fries in the US--at La Palapa, a half-block away from the house. After that, you can return home do digest your lunch on the roof-garden and then retire for the de rigueur siesta from 3-5 PM. Refreshed, you can tour the shops and art galleries along Ancha San Antonio or walk the 3 blocks, to join the native “sanmiguelense” sitting under the trees in the Jardin. It’s hard to imagine a more relaxing way of life: lazy pigeons wheel around the Parroquia, while balloon men sell “globos” to devoted parents, and maybe you will be fortunate enough to hear mariachi music or participate in dancing around the gazebo. As the afternoon wears on, you might go upstairs La Azotea on Calle Umaran to watch the sun set with a margarita… or two. And then, depending on your mood, join the dinner guests on down Calle Umaran for wiener schnitzel and beer at “Berlin” or devour a shrimp Poor Boy at “Harry’s” on the first block of Hidalgo… or enjoy a steak and jazz music at “Tio Lucas” on Mesones or eat haute cuisine at “La Capilla” behind the Parroquia on Cuna de Allende, to name but a few of the eating places within one or two blocks from the Jardin… After dinner, depending on your preferences (and the time on year), you can either go to a chamber music concert, jazz festival or a exhibition of flamenco dancing at the Angela Peralta Theater, or piano or guitar recitals at the Bella Artes, or an art movie at the Biblioteca… Then, you can join the late night crowd at Mama Mia’s to dance the night away…
